When I said the title of this post in my head, I said it like a pretentious art snob, it went something like this.

( Snobby voice ) ” This is my latest series about how human nature in inherently evil and given the right circumstances anyone is capable of murder, I call it ……. ‘ dog’s on a beach’ “.

My mom always told me that things happen in three’s. To prove her point, this week I have had one girlfriend and 2 friends go to the hospital. Here are three songs for the three people I know in the hospital. Get well soon.

I got this new micro RC airplne the Night Vapor, and did some test shots with it.

I think my favorite time to shoot photos is at night so the first thing I wanted to show was the low light capabilities of the camera. It’s actually pretty decent all things considered. This is obviously a pretty well lit area, but even so the grain is not over the top and everything is visible.

My second favorite thing on this phone is the flash. The flash is powerful enough to shoot things up close but anything farther than about 7 or 8 feet and you reach the threshold of what the flash is capable of.  You can also shoot with the the light on constantly in video mode which is really cool.

A real measure of a camera phone or a point and shoot is its ability to shoot while you are partying. The camera does surprisingly well again considering that you are using a camera in a phone. The flash really helps out with party shots, as well as as using some helpful photography apps from the app store.

The colors coming straight out of the camera are decent given the right lighting set up, but once again using some minimal apps you can really pull out good colors and fake the depth of field when you need to.

As expected the camera does the best in the day time, and you get the most our of your files when using shooting in prime lighting set ups.

Here is an example of what you can do with a combination of about 3 or 4 different apps.

And this is an example of what you can do with the pulling out some of the colors in photoshop and or whatever program you use to edit and color photos in.

Lastly and obviously I wanted to shoot some video on the phone since it now offers HD video as an option. Once again I am plesently surprised with what the camera can do in all lighting situations. Again remember you are using a camera on a phone so HD video and a 5 MB camera are all things that have only been available on phones for maybe the last year. And this is the first time I have been able to take advantage of this since I have had iphones since they first came out. These videos were shot on the iphone 4, edited on imove mobile and uploaded to youtube.

All in all I am really happy with the camera on this phone. I am having alot of fun playing with the video camera, and trying to push the boundaries of what the camera is capable of. It is still not powerful enough to replace a high end point and shoot camera but I will most definitely use this more than a point and shoot simply because I don’t like carrying much in my pocket. And there are also plenty of app’s to fake any effects you can get with a nice lense and a high end camera. All in alI I give the iphone 4 an 8 out of 10. There is still a little to be desired as far as some work flow issues go and also editing in imovie mobile is an absolute nightmare. But again, I think we all need to remember that you are shooting HD video and relatively descent sized pictures on your PHONE!!!!!!. pretty freaki’n cool if you ask me.
